2024 has been a year of transformation and growth, filled with new roles, evolving jobs, and the discovery of new strengths. Reflecting on this journey reveals not only moments of triumph but also the struggles and challenges that shaped it.

This year, embraced vulnerability and it became essentialโ€”admitting what I didnโ€™t know, facing fears of inadequacy, and enduring moments of self-doubt. Navigating these challenges was like walking a tightrope between uncertainty and resilience, but each stumble became a lesson in persistence.

As a psychologist, my journey took an unexpected turn toward community service and mentorship. This path wasnโ€™t a detour but a deepening of purpose. Connecting with individuals, helping them navigate their challenges, and witnessing their growth reignited my passion for human connection. It was in this shift that I found a profound sense of fulfillmentโ€”a realization that leadership extends beyond titles and positions. Itโ€™s about impact, empathy, and guiding others toward their potential.

Leadership in 2024 came to life in mentorship, advocacy, and collaborative community building. It wasnโ€™t about commanding from the top but creating spaces where others could thrive. I learned to see leadership as a shared journey, one that honors the voices of those we lead and uplifts those yet to find their strength.

This year also inspired reflection on the trailblazers who came before meโ€”mentors, Mizingamelu Diana Mukali Tavaris, BA BF Kayumba Chiwele family members, and peersโ€”who faced their own battles and carved paths toward a brighter future. Their courage, innovation, and resilience became a blueprint, reminding me that every challenge is an opportunity to leave a legacy for others.

As 2025 approaches, the lessons of 2024 carry forward. Itโ€™s a commitment to embracing uncertainty with courage, celebrating growth in its many forms, and continuing to serve others with compassion. While the future remains uncertain, one thing is clear: the challenges overcome this year have built a foundation for a more resilient, purpose-driven tomorrow.

Witnessing the transformative power of empowering women to lead their communities has been profoundly inspiring. From planning and development to on-the-ground implementation, every step reaffirmed my passion for project development and policy reform. Itโ€™s amazing to see how strategic initiatives can create a ripple effect of positive change.

Project development and implementation are more than just professional duties for meโ€”they are my passion points. Seeing the tangible impact of our efforts in Mwalukanga, from enhanced educational opportunities to improved health outcomes, has been incredibly rewarding.

Psychological Safety is "the belief that one will not be punished or humiliated for speaking up with ideas, questions, concerns, or mistakes." (definition by Professor Amy Edmonson).
Psychological Safety is a set of behaviors, competencies and practices that must be embraced and experienced on a daily basis in the workplace. You can't fake psychological safety at work.

This is one corporate principle that can't be only hanging on the walls in a nice poster, but it must be lived through actions from the top leaders, to front line, direct supervisors/leaders/managers and everyone else.

Embracing psychological safety means operating at a corporate, teams and individual level by the set of behavior and practices that are fundamental to it at all times: when things are going smooth, and when things get hard.
One fundamental truth about psychological safety (and very much a truth about all things corporate culture) is that it is generally operationalized at a team level in the relationship between the team and the leader, and the leader and the individuals of that team. That's how you bring psychological safety to reality.

If the CEO embraces psychological safety, but it is violated everyday at a team level, then there is no psychological safety, regardless of what the CEO says.
