As part of our children’s Homeskills Program our social work department had a brilliant ideas of hosting a Restaurant-Style Etiquette Day! 🍽️

As part of the holiday program, the children enjoyed a three-course meal and learned about table manners, including how to use cutlery and behave in formal dining settings. The social worker hosted the children in a restaurant environment; this entailed pretending that we didn't know the children and were at their service. The social worker started by expressing the values of etiquette and the importance of having manners. ❤️

The incredible team from so kindly organised a donation drive of an astounding 35 boxes (1,920 sachets) of FUTURELIFE , by reaching out to various corporates namely Remax Evolve, KDCD, IXM and CDE (Centre for Development & Enterprise), for our children from JCH and Funda Ngo Thando ECD. ❤️

It was an amazing gift meeting the amazing people behind this meaningful project and are thankful for the delicious addition to our children’s breakfast. ✨🥣

Every girl deserves to grow up feeling safe, valued, and strong. But for many of the girls placed in our care, life hasn’t been kind. They’ve experienced what no child ever should – violence, trauma, and rejection, often long before they could even read or write.

Through programmes like Girls for Girls, Speak Up, Siphamandla, Siyatutuka and the She is Me camp, we help our girls understand their rights, reclaim their dignity, and realise their strength. We create space for healing. We help them find their voice – and learn how to use it. ❤️

As we wrap up yet another successful Mandela Day/ Month, words cannot express how grateful and proud we are to have so many people come together, in support of our children. ❤️

Whether it was donation drop offs, volunteer work, site visits or a combination of all, we are overwhelmed by the love and spirit of giving that our awesome JCH community continues to provide. 🇿🇦

Let us continue our journey and efforts of making The Johannesburg Children’s Home a home of renewed hope for our children, and an opportunity to lay the foundation for a better future! ❤️
