A bit of information on pigmentation and why melasma especially is so difficult to improve, with pigmentation a slow gradual process to reeducate the skin to produce healthy cells, instead of defaulting to melanin production as a defense mechanism, as cells can always produce more pigment if they are exposed to further trauma…

It’s so important to have the correct technique behind skin treatments, incorrect technique or incorrect actives can cause more harm than good, it can cause excessive trauma, thereby triggering chronic inflammation which in turn can trigger melanin as a protective response, and also breakdown collagen and elastin bonds in the skin… therefore it can cause pigmentation and premature aging…
