Join the CDE Academy for our second Journal Club for 2026:
'Navigating the Spectrum: Precision and pathogenesis in modern diabetes care'

Joining this session as our expert guest, we have the privilege of hosting endocrinologist and public health scientist, Prof Naomi Levitt.
As usual, Dr Stan Landau will facilitate the session.

The content does not represent a comprehensive review of the diseases, but rather a journey by the authors, drawing on many years of practice and the best guidance for prevention and management.

We are pleased to announce our upcoming teaching and learning initiative, “New Directions in Care,” which has been deliberately crafted as a dynamic, practice-focused experience that reflects the most current thinking in diabetes management.

These Masterclasses will be delivered live and in a fully interactive format, sitting at the intersection of clinical relevance, educational innovation and meaningful CPD. The design recognises that diabetes care evolves rapidly, and that South African healthcare professionals require agile, evidence-informed learning environments that mirror the complexity of real-world practice.

Grounded in the principles of adult learning, the offering values the experience, insight, and self-direction that participants bring. Each session promotes active engagement, critical reflection and specifially the opportunity to translate learning directly into improved practice.

A central feature of “New Directions in Care” is its inclusive learning philosophy. We acknowledge that healthcare is delivered by diverse, interdependent teams and that high-quality diabetes care relies on the strengths of multiple disciplines.
In line with the mandates and ethos of the CDE Academy, the initiative embraces an inter-professional approach, welcoming doctors, pharmacists, dietitians, specialist nurse educators and other allied health professionals into a shared learning space. This approach strengthens communication and enhances role clarity.
