It’s official. 👩🏾‍🎓

Masters in Public Health — London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine ()

I’ve been sitting with this moment, trying to find the words. This degree was one of the most incredible yet demanding experiences of my life, and I would choose it again, without hesitation.

What makes it sweeter is the journey to get here. No medschool graduation in 2020, the pandemic had other plans. No diploma ceremony last year, I was abroad, chasing this. Three degrees, and this is the first stage I’ve ever walked across. It was worth every single wait 🥹

The most important thing to me was having my mom in that room. And godwilling, she was right there, cheering me on. Konke engiyikho, uyena. Ngiswele amazwi okubonga.

To everyone who poured into me, believed in me, and held me through this, thank you. You know who you are.
This is for us. 🥂

What does it mean to study in the West and return home to Africa? 🌍

Last week I was honoured to be invited by the and to an evening with fellow UK Alumni in South Africa, centred around the theme: Pathways Back to Africa: Turning Global Experience into Local Impact.

The panel was thought-provoking and deeply personal. We unpacked identity, purpose, what it means to be African in global spaces, and what we owe the continent when we come back.

What do you carry home? What do you leave behind? And how do you make it mean something?

I’m in a season of uncertainty and anticipation as I navigate the next chapter of my career, and evenings like this remind me that the path doesn’t have to be clear to be purposeful. 🙏🏾
