Let's us talk about Osteoarthritis : July is OA awareness month.....

1. Osteoarthritis (os-tee-o-arth-ri-tus) is a very common condition of the joints.

2. A joint is where two or more bones meet. A healthy joint has a coating of tough but smooth and slippery tissue called cartilage. It functions to aide movement of the bones against each other without friction.

3.When a joint develops osteoarthritis, part of the cartilage wears out leading to a thin and rougher the surface.

4. This interferes with normal joint movement. If the cartilage becomes badly worn, the bones may begin to rub against each other and eventually wear away causing osteoarthritis.
