Our Story

I established this practice in 2014 because I recognised the need for a smarter, warmer and more efficient model for Family Medicine in Johannesburg. I view the role of a doctor as a responsibility to society more than just a chosen vocation, and I wanted to offer patients an outlet for sound medical care without the unnecessary inconvenience and frills. Coming from a background of emergency medicine, psychiatry and traditional gp work, I considered it my challenge to create a practice that used the knowledge I had gained with these values. The practice has grown with a focus on acute/urgent care, paediatrics and diabetes. (I completed my 2 year post graduate Diploma in Diabetes with Cardiff University in 2015.) The Blubird medical practice embraces technology to provide patients smarter care and better efficiency. It is a paperless practice: each patient having an electronic medical record. I make use of whatsapp, facebook, and twitter for communication about clinical information and times. Lastly, and most importantly, with the different endeavours being developed, it is of utmost importance that no patient feels 'processed' but rather 'çared for'. I encourage you to let me know if you ever undergo an experience contrary to this. ----------------------------------------------------------------- To make the practice work for you I request the following : -Please make appointments. I am always happy to accommodate an emergency, but the booking system ensures that you don't wait. -I endeavour not to keep you waiting or at least not longer than 15minutes). Healthcare is unpredictable: so bare with me if, on occasion, I don't meet this goal. -If you think you may want me to check out another patient, please mention it to Elaine, the Practice Manager, asap. It helps us to allocate you a little more time. -You are welcome to use my cellphone:) Booking times are much more efficiently dealt with if you phone the practice, though - because often we don't see the whatsapps until some time has passed. (0114401412). -I have chosen to rather return calls at lunchtime or in the evening, than take calls during consults. That allows me to give you proper attention during the consults.
