What are the services we offer?

At The Day Clinic, we help adolescents and young adults develop the tools they need to regulate emotions and move forward with greater stability and resilience.

Our structured day hospital programme combines DBT skills, multidisciplinary care, and a supportive environment to help adolescents begin understanding and managing their emotional experiences.

We have a 12-18yrs group and separate service for adults +18yrs.

Practical DBT Skills for Emotional Regulation

Two useful concepts often introduced in DBT are the Bicycle Metaphor and Countdown to Calm.

The Bicycle Metaphor illustrates how emotional understanding and rational thinking work together to create balance. When both are integrated, individuals are better able to navigate difficult situations and respond effectively.

Countdown to Calm is a grounding technique that helps slow emotional escalation by guiding attention back to the present moment, allowing the nervous system to settle and clearer thinking to return.
