Beautifulmind I work with adults and children and I place emphasis on working with the nervous system. Becoming aware of your felt self is a great resource for change.

I help adults and children reduce stress and ease chronic pain through re-patterning the brain using Somatic movement. Beautiful Mind offers a unique variety of somatic movement forms to suit each individualโ€™s needs. We integrate health and wellbeing by addressing both the body and the mind as a co-functioning system, and aim to enhance body awareness through movement which is unique in itself. Em

phasis is placed on working with the nervous system, where adults and children can reduce stress and ease chronic pain through repatterning the brain using somatic Movement. When you learn to become more aware of yourself through movement you can let your bodyโ€™s inner wisdom guide you to make wiser choices. Monja Boonzaier from Beautiful Mind says; I have learnt that stress switches one into automatic pilot mode (sympathetic state/Fight and flight) and then it is not easy to slow down, most of us only know how to push ourselves to our absolute limit. It is very difficult to get out of this place as it is not easy to shift learnt behavioral patterns. When we can learn to move and pay attention to ourselves it brings us into a calm state. When our system produces serotonin, oxytocin (feel good hormones) and melatonin (sleep hormone) which puts us into a calm state (Parasympathetic nervous system) and when we are calm our body and mind can reconnect.

๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ“šWhat is the Feldenkraisยฎ Method? It is a holistic approach and the method consists of two forms of practice: Awareness Through Movementยฎ (ATM) and Functional Integration (FI). ATM sessions are typically conducted in group settings and are verbally guided. During these sessions, participants engage in a series of gentle movements while paying close attention to their sensations and bodily experiences. The goal of ATM is to increase self-awareness and explore new, more efficient ways of moving and acting in a safe and supportive environment. FI sessions, on the other hand, are individualized hands-on sessions.

Our Somatic Movement (Awareness through Movement - ATM) classes transcend traditional "exercise"โ€”they are an exploration of effortless movement in your body.

Through gentle, intentional motions, we assist your nervous system in releasing outdated patterns of tension and stress.

In the 1940s, Dr. Moshe Feldenkraisโ€”a physicist, engineer, and Judo expertโ€”sustained a severe knee injury during a soccer game in 1929, which was later aggravated by his participation in WWII and Judo practice. Faced with limited prospects of walking without pain, he turned his scientific mindset inward. ๐Ÿง 

By moving with heightened awareness and slowness, he discovered a way to "re-program" his nervous system, leading to the development of Awareness Through Movement (ATM).

What makes ATM unique? Instead of "pushing through the pain," ATM classes leverage principles of physics and neuroplasticity. Through guided verbal sequences, participants learn to move with the efficiency of an athlete and the grace of a child, utilizing their minds to heal their bodies. ๐ŸŒฟ
