✨ Trans Pulse Monday ✨

As we step into a new week, let’s take a moment to celebrate our wins locally and globally πŸŒπŸ’œ

πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦ Here at home:

Anastasia K Boney made history as the first transgender woman to win Miss Drag South Africa πŸ‘‘ Her project Drag with a Purpose is giving voice to trans and q***r stories in powerful ways.

The Triangle Project continues to receive international solidarity and fundraising support, strengthening trans and q***r rights work right here in South Africa.

🌍 Globally:

Caster Semenya’s case saw a partial victory at the European Court of Human Rights, recognizing that she was denied a fair hearing. This is a step toward justice and equality in sport.

London Trans+ Pride 2025 drew over 100,000 people the largest trans pride march in the world to date!

The Global Trans Conference gathered hundreds of activists, pushing forward collective strategies for health, rights, and movement building.

πŸ’‘ These wins remind us: visibility matters, advocacy works, and every victory big or small strengthens our collective heartbeat.

Keep pulsing. Keep thriving. Keep showing up. Your existence is power. βœŠπŸ½πŸ’–

✨ Patchwork of Power: From Roots to Wisdom

πŸ•°οΈ Throwback Roots
The very first hormone patches appeared in the late 1970s. Before then, hormone therapy meant pills that strained the liver or injections that caused sharp highs and lows. Scientists discovered that delivering hormones through the skin allowed for a slow, steady release into the bloodstream a game changer.

At first, patches were designed for cis women navigating menopause. But as time went on, trans and q***r communities embraced this tiny invention, finding empowerment, safety, and dignity in its promise. What began as mainstream medicine became a lifeline in q***r spaces, where access and autonomy have always been hard-won.

πŸ’‘ Patchwork Wisdom
So how do patches actually work today? A hormone patch sits on the skin, delivering hormones directly into the bloodstream. No daily pills. No injections. No liver strain. Just consistent hormone levels.

Why many choose patches:

Steadier hormone release

Gentler on the body

Easy, discreet, and consistent

Challenges:

Skin irritation for some

Must be replaced on schedule

Not always accessible everywhere

🌱 The wisdom here: Patches aren’t just about science they’re about agency. They remind us that healthcare innovation transforms lives most when it reaches those who have been excluded the longest. For many in trans and q***r spaces, patches symbolize choice, respect, and the right to live fully in our bodies.

🌈 Trans Pulse Monday: Celebrating Wins! 🌈

This week, we honor resilience, courage, and victories in the trans community across Africa and the globe. πŸ’ͺ✨

Africa Leading the Way

πŸ‡°πŸ‡ͺ Kenya – A landmark court ruling protects a trans woman from inhuman treatment and pushes Parliament to enact laws recognizing trans rights. A bold step for justice and dignity.

πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦ South Africa – Trans inmate Nthabiseng Mokoena gains legal advocacy for her right to be housed according to her gender identity. Progress in protection and visibility.

Global Inspiration

🌐 London, UK – The largest Trans+ Pride ever, over 100,000 voices united under β€œExistence and Resistance.” Proof that visibility and solidarity matter.

πŸ’œ Affirmation for the Week:
I celebrate my existence. Every victory, big or small, strengthens our community and our truth.

✨ Spiritual Sunday ✨

"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint."
β€” Isaiah 40:31 πŸ•ŠοΈ

This week’s key reminder: Renewal.
No matter how heavy last week felt, trust that God is restoring your strength. Step into this week with fresh hope, light hearts, and steady faith. πŸ’«

May your days be filled with peace, purpose, and divine guidance. 🌸

✨ Trailblazers & Truths: Honoring HRT Pioneers, Empowering Ourselves ✨

πŸ”¦ Spotlight Saturday
Meet Dr. Harry Benjamin (1885–1986) a true pioneer in transgender healthcare. At a time when society doubted and stigmatized trans identities, he saw courage, truth, and humanity. His groundbreaking work, including The Tr*******al Phenomenon (1966) and the β€œBenjamin Scale,” created a path for hormone therapy and gender-affirming care, giving countless trans people a chance to live authentically.

Dr. Benjamin reminds us: change is possible when we combine knowledge with compassion.

🌱 Affirmation Friday

I honor those who fought for my right to exist authentically.

My truth deserves love, respect, and recognition.

I walk boldly in the courage of those who came before me.

I have the power to create change in my life and community.

I am living proof that authenticity is strength.

🌈 Wisdom Wednesday + Throwback Thursday 🌈

This week, as we throw it back to the 1950s–1960s pioneers of HRT, we also shine some wisdom on one of today’s most common methods: injectables.

✨ Back then, many trans people accessed hormones quietly, often without proper guidance. It was risky, but it showed the deep determination to live authentically. That same determination lives on today in the different ways we take HRT.

πŸ’‰ Injectables are one of the strongest affirming tools available now. They offer longer-lasting doses, more stable levels, and flexibility in how often you take them (weekly, biweekly, or monthly).

🌱 Wisdom of the week: Just like the pioneers taught us, courage and consistency build transformation. Injectables remind us that steady, intentional steps shape the body and the soul over time.

Next week, we’ll throwback to the activism of the 70s–80s and pair it with wisdom around another HRT method.

✨ Trans History Tuesday ✨

πŸ³οΈβ€βš§οΈ Medical Milestone:
In 1938, scientists achieved a groundbreaking moment in medical history when estrogen was first synthesized. This discovery became one of the most important stepping stones toward Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) as we know it today.

For trans people, this was more than science it was the opening of a doorway. For the first time, there was a medical path toward aligning our bodies with our identities, something our ancestors had long envisioned but never had access to.

βš–οΈ Rights Milestone:
Fast forward to 2006, when the Yogyakarta Principles were introduced by human rights experts from around the world. These principles established that gender identity and gender expression fall under the protection of international human rights law.

This was historic: it gave activists, lawyers, and trans communities everywhere a powerful tool to fight discrimination and demand recognition.

πŸ’‘ The Lesson:
Our journey as trans people is built on both science and struggle medical breakthroughs that affirm our bodies, and legal victories that affirm our rights. One without the other would never be enough. Together, they remind us that our existence is valid, our health is essential, and our rights are non-negotiable.

🌈✨ Trans Pulse Monday ✨🌈

This week, our pulse celebrates Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) wins that keep the trans community moving forward. πŸ’œ

🌍 African Wins & Momentum

πŸ’« Lesotho is moving toward legislative reform that could allow trans youth access to gender affirmation treatment and the right to update birth certificates an essential step for dignity and recognition.
πŸ’« In South Africa, advocacy continues to expand HRT access. Trans-led organizations are pushing for hormones to be included on the national essential medicines list and for primary health clinics not just specialists to provide treatment. This would mean wider, easier access for our community.

🌐 Global Wins

βš–οΈ In Ohio (U.S.), a major court ruling restored access to puberty blockers and hormone therapy for transgender minors recognizing these treatments as essential healthcare.
πŸ›οΈ In U.S. federal prisons, a judge ruled that incarcerated trans people must continue receiving prescribed hormone therapy protecting care even behind bars.

πŸ’œ From policy shifts in Africa to legal victories abroad, our heartbeat grows stronger. Access to HRT is not just medicine it’s life, joy, and freedom.

Sandwich Weekend πŸ₯ͺ
This weekend, we’re stacking the best of both worlds the wisdom of Spotlight Saturday and the peace of Sunday Affirmations into one delicious post of love and power.

✨ Spotlight Layer: The Discovery of HRT ✨
Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) is one of the most powerful tools in trans healthcare. Its story goes back nearly a century:

πŸ”¬ In the 1920s and 30s, scientists first began studying s*x hormones, leading to the development of synthetic estrogen and testosterone.
πŸ’‘ By the 1950s, HRT entered medical practice, opening new doors for trans people to affirm their identities through their bodies.
🌈 Since then, trans communities have fought tirelessly for access, safety, and recognition. HRT is not just medicine it is liberation, it is healing, and it is hope.

When we spotlight HRT, we’re also spotlighting every pioneer, activist, doctor, and trans person who made it possible. This discovery is proof that science + community courage can create miracles.

✨ Sunday Layer ✨
πŸ“– Scripture: β€œI praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” – Psalm 139:14
πŸ’« Affirmation: β€œI honor my body, my journey, and the courage of those who paved the way for me.”

πŸ₯ͺ Together, these layers remind us that progress + faith = resilience.
May your Sandwich Weekend be filled with love, joy, and reminders that you are wonderfully made. πŸ’™πŸ’–

🌿 Wisdom Wednesday x Throwback Thursday 🌿
✨ A Collaboration Post ✨

πŸ’Š Pills in Transition
For many, pills are the first step in their medical transition. They’re small, simple, and familiar yet carry powerful meaning:

Estrogen Pills (for transfeminine folks):
Help soften skin, redistribute body fat, reduce body hair, and gradually develop breast tissue.

Anti-Androgen Pills (like spironolactone):
Often taken alongside estrogen to lower testosterone levels.

Testosterone Pills (for transmasculine folks):
Less common than injections or gels, but sometimes used to boost testosterone levels.

These pills can look like everyday medication, but for trans people they represent affirmation, identity, and growth. 🌱

πŸ“œ Throwback Thursday Reflection
In the early days of transgender healthcare, pills were among the most accessible forms of HRT. Despite limited medical support, many trans people found ways to access them symbolizing courage and resilience. Over time, safer, standardized options have evolved, but pills remain an important part of many transition stories.

✨ Remember:
Not everyone takes pills. Some people use injections, gels, patches, or no medical interventions at all. Every journey is different, and every journey is valid. 🌈

Your transition = your choice, your timeline. Whether you take pills, try other methods, or focus on social transition alone it’s okay.

🌿✨ TRANS HISTORY TUESDAY ✨🌿

Today we honor two pioneers who shaped the history of Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) and opened the path for generations of trans people:

πŸ“ Christine Jorgensen (USA, 1926–1989)
In 1952, Christine became the first widely known American trans woman to undergo HRT and gender-affirming surgery. Her story broke headlines worldwide, bringing visibility to trans lives and proving transition was possible.

πŸ“ Michael Dillon (UK, 1915–1962)
A trailblazing trans man, Michael was the first to medically transition using testosterone. He also authored one of the earliest works on trans endocrinology, Self: A Study in Ethics and Endocrinology (1946).

🌈 Their courage and determination laid the foundation for the gender-affirming healthcare we fight for today.
