Healing After a C-Section: What Every Mama Should Know 💡

At Liora Physio, we’re here to help you move forward - recovering with care, support, and physiotherapy guidance that makes a difference.

Tag a mama-to-be or new mom to follow along and learn how to heal well after birth. 🌿

Physio Recovery Tips:
→ Short walks encourage circulation, reduce stiffness, and support healing.
→ Hold a small pillow/towel over your scar when sneezing or coughing for extra comfort and support.
→ Wear breathable, comfy clothing that won’t irritate your scar.
→ Don’t push through pain — the right medication helps your body heal safely.

Be gentle with yourself. Recovery is a journey, not a race.

Holiday posture reminder:

🌊 Beach Chills
👉 Sit with a cushion behind you or a take stretch breaks between your swims.

🚗 Road Trips & Game Drives
👉 Adjust your seat to support the natural curve of your lower back using a lumbar roll or cushion. Keep your shoulders relaxed and avoid hunching forward. Take regular breaks to stretch and exercises during stops to maintain mobility.

✈️ Traveling on an Airplane
👉 Use a small cushion to support your natural lower back curve, perform gentle seated pelvic tilts to activate your core, stretch your hips during layovers or in your seat when possible, and keep your shoulders relaxed to avoid tension buildup.

🍽️ Sitting at Restaurants
👉 Keep feet flat, shoulders relaxed, and avoid slumping forward over the table.

📺 Watching TV or Movie Nights
👉 Sit tall or lie on your side with a pillow under your head for support.

🎒 Carrying Bags or Backpacks
👉 Use both shoulder straps evenly to distribute weight, adjust straps so the bag sits close to your back, and avoid overloading it. Engage your core to support your spine while carrying the load. Regularly switch sides if you carry a single strap bag, and incorporate shoulder and upper back stretches to relieve tension.

🚶‍♀️ Walking Long Distances
👉 Focus on maintaining an upright posture with shoulders relaxed and pulled slightly back. Engage your deep core muscles to stabilize your pelvis and prevent excessive sway. Take deliberate, balanced steps, and consider using supportive footwear to reduce impact. Take short breaks to stretch your hip flexors, calves, and lower back to maintain mobility and reduce muscle tightness.

What Is Anterior Pelvic Tilt❔️❔️❔️
Anterior pelvic tilt happens when the front of your pelvis tips forward and the back of your pelvis lifts up, creating an exaggerated arch in your lower back.

As your belly grows, your pelvis naturally tilts forward to support the extra weight, after birth, those same imbalances can linger, leading to back pain, instability, or that “arched lower back” feeling.

We assess your individual movement pattern and guide you through a personalized plan after birth so your body feels balanced, supported, and strong again.

Dm us with any questions If you feel that your 'tilt' Is off balance 💜

Studying at your desk causing you some pain?
Here are our tips to help ease your pain.

☑️ Study tips 101

1. Wrist Strain
👉 Tip: Keep your wrists in a neutral position. Use an ergonomic mouse and keyboard, and take regular breaks to stretch and rotate your wrists.
2. Neck Tension
👉 Tip: Raise your screen to eye level and sit tall. Try gentle neck stretches throughout the day to release built-up tension.
3. Tight Hips
👉 Tip: Stand up and move every 30–60 minutes. Add hip flexor and glute stretches to your routine to counteract all that sitting.
4. Lower Back Ache
👉 Tip: Use a lumbar support cushion or roll up a towel behind your lower back. Strengthen your core and stay active—movement is key.
5. Slouched Shoulders
👉 Tip: Stretch your chest and strengthen your upper back. Set posture reminders to help you reset and realign during the day.

🌿 Postpartum Core Recovery

We’ve had many women come in asking how to rebuild their core after their pregnancy.
It’s not only about getting your body and strength back, it’s about understanding healing your body, restoring deep core strength, and re-establishing muscle and balance from within 💫

We have to remember how our core connection weakens as the baby grows and the muscles are stretched.

You may notice a “mummy tummy,” a rounded or bulging belly even months after birth - this is often due to poor muscle coordination, not just fat.

We work with moms to rebuild strength from the core throughout the entire body, improving your core strength, your posture and pelvic floor, as well as helping you feel connected and comfortable in your body again 🤍
