Tragic… what a loss! RIP 💔

Our thoughts are with the families of Kelvin Kiptum and his coach, Gervais Hakizimana, upon the tragic news of their passing today.

Kiptum, who at 23 broke Kipchoge's record at the Chicago Marathon in 2023 with a stunning time of 2:00:35, had only been celebrating the ratification of this record on Friday. He had ambitions to break two-hours at the Rotterdam Marathon in April and was set for big things at the Paris Olympics.

It has been reported that Kiptum, 24 was at the wheel of a Toyota Premio when he lost control of the vehicle. He and Hakizimana, 36 died at the scene, whilst a third passenger was transported into hospital.
