South African healthcare is entering a period of accelerated digital change. Over the next five years, patient expectations will increasingly be shaped not by other medical practices, but by the seamless digital experiences people already encounter in banking, retail, and travel.
By 2030, patients will expect healthcare to be accessible, responsive, integrated, and personalised by default. Meeting these expectations will depend less on clinical intent and more on the technology foundations supporting care delivery.
For healthcare , this is no longer a long-term vision. It is a near-term strategic reality.
By 2030, patients will expect co-ordinated care supported by shared records, seamless referrals and minimal duplication, within appropriate regulatory boundaries.
