Play therapy is a tool for helping autistic children become more themselves. It can also, under the right circumstances, be a tool to help parents or guardians.

Why do we use Play Therapy with Children?

Play Therapy can help any child who:

Is not realising his full potential, academically or socially
Has disturbed sleep or frequent nightmares
Is suffering due to a parental divorce or separation
Suffers from anxiety or stress
Has suffered from a loss or bereavement
Often withdrawn or unhappy
Finds it hard to make friends
Argues and fights with peers or siblings
Is bullied or bullies others
Displays behaviour that is inappropriate

We are very happy to welcome Megan, of HeartWork Play Therapy to our practice. Megan has a BEd in Foundation Phase and Early Childhood Development (WITS), and a BA (HSS) in Psychological Counselling (UNISA). She has been teaching for the past 10 years and is passionate about working with children.

She is a qualified Therapeutic Play Practitioner in Integrative Holistic, Child Centred Therapeutic Play, which is the most recognized form of Therapeutic Play in the UK and USA. She is based in Johannesburg South and is able to work with children between the ages 3 - 12.
