This picture was taken in NICU 14 years ago when my beautiful niece was born, 7 weeks too early. She spent a month in NICU and another month in the ward to gain weight.
Witnessing the challenges her mum faced being separated from her baby was heart breaking.

The 17 November marks World prematurity day and I love the theme this year- "Zero Separation!" Keep parents and babies born too soon together.

We can extend this to term babies who end up in NICU for various reasons. These babies need their parents too!

Babies thrive with skin-to-skin care and the human touch. New parents are often afraid of interacting with their babies because of all the tubes and gadgets around them. We need to encourage this interaction in a safe way and ease these fears.

Share/DM your premature birth and NICU experience to show other parents that they are not alone.
