A YEAR OF HISTORIC FIRSTS AND 2000 MILESTONES

As we step into 2026, we are reflecting on a year that defined our mission. Since opening our doors, Melrose Surgical Centre has been driven by a commitment to excellence, innovation and industry education.

2025: A Foundation of Impact
1️⃣ Celebrating 1 Year of Impact: We marked our first anniversary, a year of building a world-class facility from the ground up.
2️⃣ The Power of 2000: We hit the incredible milestones of our 1000th and 2000th successful procedures, reflecting the trust our patients place in us.
3️⃣ Robotic Innovation & Same-Day Care: We are proud to be pionering same-day joint replacements and Mako Robotics in Johannesburg. Earlier in 2025, Dr Chris McCready performed our facility's first Mako case and in December, our founding member and orthopaedic surgeon, Dr Brad Gelbart, successfully performed his first robotic-assisted case. 4️⃣ Specialized Care Expansion: We opened our dedicated Infusion Area, focusing on life-changing Biologics and Iron Infusions.
5️⃣ A Hub for Education: Staying true to our objective of industry education, we hosted over 25 symposiums and medical meetings in our onsite auditorium.
6️⃣ Discovery Day DSP Network: We are proud to provide accessible, high-quality care as a part of the Discovery Health network.
7️⃣ Brilliant Culture & Clinical Trust: We are immensely proud to have achieved a 4.7/5 Patient Satisfaction rating in 2025. This score, coupled with our record-high staff satisfaction, reflects our belief that a world-class patient experience is built on the foundation of a supported, expert surgical and medical team.

2026: A Rejuvenated Vision
We aren't slowing down. Our team is ready to serve the Johannesburg community with expanded onsite capabilities:
1️⃣ New Specialist Services: Welcoming a specialist Ophthalmologist and two Nuclear Medicine Specialists focusing on advanced skin cancer treatments.
2️⃣ Community & Education: With numerous healthcare conferences already booked in our auditorium, we remain committed to giving back and leading the conversation in medical advancement.

CELEBRATING ONE YEAR OF IMPACT!

It’s hard to believe it's already been one year since we first opened the doors of our day hospital on 1 October 2024!

To the Johannesburg community, thank you for trusting us with your care. We're incredibly proud to mark our first birthday having already touched almost 2000 lives. A true testament to the dedication and expertise found right here at 52 Glenhove Road, Melrose Estate.

❤️ UE: “Excellent etiquette from every single person since I entered the door, from the receptionist to the sisters and the doctors. Sisters in the day ward were really incredible and made the stay blissful, removing all anxiety with a smile and kind words. Excellent doctors as well that follow-up in patients post-op to ensure everything is okay and all questions are answered.”
