I have an Honours Degree in Psychology from the University of South Africa (UNISA) and have also completed the one year postgraduate UNISA Trauma Internship at the Johannesburg Parent and Child Counselling Centre. My year as a trauma intern helped me gain invaluable experience and knowledge. I had exposure to children and adults from a broad spectrum of cultural, economic and intellectual backgrounds. I subsequently registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa to practice as a Registered Counsellor, specialising in Trauma. I am an affiliate of ICAS Southern Africa, the world’s leading provider of behavioural risk management services to the business community. I have had invaluable experience doing group and individual counselling in the corporate enviroment. I work for for a volunteer-based organisation which provides emotional support and counselling for persons of the Jewish faith who have suffered a bereavement or loss. The counselling method, using a non-judgmental confidential approach, provides a nurturing and caring environment for comfort and growth. We support the bereaved and their families through the grief process. I have also been a teacher for many years, teaching both primary and high school students. This has given me further understanding of children of all ages. I offer a non-judgemental safe space where clients can speak openly and freely. My role as a counsellor is to facilitate growth and healing. Every person is different; I therefore take a unique approach for each person, taking into account their personality and needs.
