🚨 We are looking for an enthusiastic person who lives in South Africa and wishes to complete a PhD in the field of diabetes.

The primary aim of this study is to estimate the incidence and prevalence of type 1 diabetes in Gauteng and the Free State, South Africa. Ultimately, the goal of this research project will be to lay the foundation for the establishment of a national type 1 diabetes registry in South Africa.

A small group of patients achieved the targets for glycaemic, BP and lipid control. Despite improved accessibility to medication, the CCMDD is not synonymous of improved clinical outcomes. Future research should ascertain the factors associated with suboptimal control for these patients.
