This captivating image – “Iris angiography – Iris vascular tufts” – was captured by Robert Hancock at Wirral University Teaching Hospitals, UK, using the BX 900 slit lamp with blue light and a yellow barrier filter.

Selected as one of the top 10 finalists in the “Slit Lamp Imaging Competition 2025”, the image showcases exceptional precision and artistic insight in anterior segment imaging.

Last week, Medequip partnered with our trusted supplier Neolight for an exciting KZN Roadshow, showcasing the innovative Neolight ROP Screening Device.

👶 What is ROP Screening?
Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) screening is performed to detect abnormal blood vessel growth in the eyes of premature infants — a condition that, if left untreated, can lead to permanent vision loss or blindness. Early detection is absolutely critical, and the Neolight technology makes this process safer, faster, and more accessible for neonatal care teams.

Medequip was proud to support the Gauteng MEC for Health and Wellness’s World Sight Day screening event at Pholosong Hospital on 9 October 2025.

We assisted with screenings using our Icare DRS Fundus camera and Haag-Streit Eyestar, and provided bottled water to help keep everyone hydrated throughout the day. 💧

At the same time, we also supported World Sight Day activities at National District Hospital in the Free State, helping to keep the dedicated healthcare teams hydrated while they carried out vital eye screenings. 👏
