God is Love: Start At Home
Mark 5:18
[18] And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.
After being rejected by the multitudes, Christ boards His ship: The Father brings Him there, The Father takes Him away - honour and acceptance from men proves fleeting, even non-essential: executing a heavenly will remains His only task, even single priority. To save one soul through power and truth - at the high cost of swine, that is to say, the price of being despised by the world - proves a worthy trade.
Mark 5:19
[19] Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.
Christ's discernment, even perfect plan is revealed: allocating specific tasks for each - all for the greater good of His Kingdom. What advantage is found through excessive fellowship, even close proximity with believers - whilst their family, friends and neighbors are living a life without the knowledge, even experience of Christ? An image of the sowers parable: the spiritual harvest of the man's fruit is to be sown again, even within the darkest recesses of the earth. Furthermore, wisdom of discipleship is revealed: not every person, even within Christ, is called into company - just as the women at the well was sent to edify the dying men of her family, and not journey with Christ.
Mark 5:20
[20] And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.
An encounter with true love, limitless wisdom, unfound beauty and eternal life - the embodiment and expression of Christ - leads one to publish great things. These are not the theory and theatrics of the synagogue - rather, an indestructible, even effective witness - seeing Christ travel seas, even take captive and destroy two thousand demons first-hand - all through a gentle word. The men "did marvel" - not at the man, but where he pointed them; even as all glory belongs to God.
1 Corinthians 9:16, 19-22
[16] For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!
[19] For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more. [20] And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; [21] to them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law. [22] To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.
