Equitamp is a brand of absorbable hemostatic agents made from oxidized regenerated cellulose (ORC) used to control bleeding during surgical and dental procedures. It comes in various forms, such as non-woven fabric (Fibrillar), loose knit (Gold), or densely woven knit, and is fully resorbed by the body.
Equitamp is utilized when conventional methods of stopping bleeding are impractical or ineffective and can be applied to a wide range of surgical procedures.
How it works
Absorbable Hemostatic Agent: Equitamp's primary function is to stop bleeding, or achieve hemostasis.
Oxidized Regenerated Cellulose (ORC):
It is made from oxidized regenerated cellulose, a material that aids in blood clotting.
Fully Resorbable: The material is fully absorbed by the body through enzymatic resorption and hydrolysis, meaning it does not need to be removed.
Applications
Equitamp is suitable for various surgical and dental procedures, including:
Cardiovascular surgery
Neurosurgery, such as cerebral operations
Oral surgery, including tooth extractions and alveoloplasty
Procedures on the throat, nose, face, and jaw
