Cuddles & Co Doula Services A doulas primary job is to assist a woman to have the best possible birth experience, as she defines What’s a doula?

The word “doula” comes from the ancient Greek meaning “a woman who serves” and is now used to refer to a trained and experienced professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to the mother before, during and just after birth; or who provides emotional and practical support during the postpartum period. Studies have shown that when doulas attend birth, labors ar

e shorter with fewer complications, babies are healthier and they breastfeed more easily. A Birth Doula

Recognizes birth as a key experience the mother will remember all her life
Understands the physiology of birth and the emotional needs of a woman in labor
Assists the woman in preparing for and carrying out her plans for birth
Stays with the woman throughout the labor
Provides emotional support, physical comfort measures and an objective viewpoint, as well as helping the woman get the information she needs to make informed decision
Facilitates communication between the laboring woman, her partner and her clinical care providers
Perceives her role as nurturing and protecting the woman’s memory of the birth experience
Allows the woman’s partner to participate at his/her comfort level
Why use a doula? Women have complex needs during childbirth and the weeks that follow. In addition to medical care and the love and companionship provided by their partners, women need consistent, continuous reassurance, comfort, encouragement and respect. They need individualized care based on their circumstances and preferences. Doulas are educated and experienced in childbirth and the postpartum period. We are prepared to provide physical (non-medical), emotional and informational support to women and their partners during labor and birth, as well as to families in the weeks following childbirth. We offer a loving touch, positioning and comfort measures that make childbearing women and families feel nurtured and cared for. Numerous clinical studies have found that a doula’s presence at birth

* tends to result in shorter labors with fewer complications
* reduces negative feelings about one’s childbirth experience
* reduces the need for pitocin (a labor-inducing drug), forceps or vacuum extraction and cesareans
* reduces the mother’s request for pain medication and/or epidurals

Research shows parents who receive support can:

* Feel more secure and cared for
* Are more successful in adapting to new family dynamics
* Have greater success with breastfeeding
* Have greater self-confidence
* Have less postpartum depression

Cuddles. And then more cuddles 🤍

Honestly, this is my favourite part of what I do

This little boy… born into the most incredible family that I have completely fallen in love with ✨

And now I get to be part of his world beyond birth, watching him grow, being there for his firsts… even bath time 🩵🥰

Like how lucky am I🥹

I mean at this point I might as well start a mobile newborn spa 😂

So grateful for these moments, and for families who let me in like this 🤍

Easter miracle 🤍

In almost 12 years, this is a birth I will carry with me forever

What started as a normal induction turned into something so extraordinary

This incredible family held onto their faith, hoping and praying for an Easter baby… and wow, did they get their miracle ✨

From 1 to 10cm in just one hour, pure power, pure surrender

And at 23:59, by the minute, their greatest blessing was born… their Easter baby 🤍

I am just so proud

What a day 😍

Two of my beautiful mamas went into labour at the same time, cue my incredible backup doula Tam. Have I told you how much I love you

We both headed off to support these amazing women, doing what we love side by side

Both births were natural, powerful, and absolutely incredible. My heart is so full

My birth was extra special, supporting a family I love and respect so deeply. I got to witness a beautiful mama bring her baby into the world, and to share that moment with her own mom as she stepped into her role as a granny was just so special 🤍

Pure power. Something that leaves me in awe every single time. Women are just incredible

Congratulations to these beautiful families and happy fourth trimester 🤍
I cannot wait for all the cuddles soon

World Doula Week 🤍
My why

After the birth of my first daughter, I felt the calling. Something shifted in me.

I had been told I would never be able to deliver naturally, too tall, too skinny. But I went on to have the most life changing birth. That moment changed everything for me.

My plan was to go back and study nursing, but I did not do high school in this country, so I did not have the right subjects to enter university. That is when I found my way to becoming a doula.

And now I know, this is exactly where I am meant to be.

My girls are my biggest why 🤍
Through them, I have learned love, strength, and compassion. And now I get to carry that into every birth I support.

To stand beside families in some of their most sacred moments, as they welcome their baby into the world, is something I will never take for granted.

This work chose me ✨

Honouring those we work alongside

To my midwife Sue Cohen, thank you for inspiring me and giving me the motivation to become a doula ✨

To all the incredible doulas who are always there for every message, every question, and every bit of support, this journey would not be the same without you 🤍

To my best girl doula Tamaryn, my partner in this work, always having each other’s backs no matter what

And to every doctor who has welcomed me with open arms and allowed me to be part of such sacred spaces, thank you

We do not do this work alone
We are a team
We are a community
We are a sisterhood 🤍

World Doula Week 🤍
Beyond the basics

We often speak about the hands on support in labour, but there is so much more that happens behind the scenes

For me, being present for my clients often means missing family occasions, school functions, and sports days

It means being on call, always ready, always holding space, even when it’s unseen

My family understands that when I am gone, I am showing up for another family in one of the most important moments of their lives

And I hope that makes them proud 🤍

Because this work goes far beyond birth
It is emotional support
It is constant connection
It is showing up, again and again

This is more than a job
This is heart work

Holding humanity, doulas at the heart of care

What does holding humanity mean to me

It starts here, with my girls, my whole world ✨
Their births were so perfect, and I would not change a thing

Those experiences shaped me, not just as a mother, but as a woman
They are the reason I became a doula, and with every birth I support, I carry a piece of them with me

They made me softer, stronger, more intuitive
They made me a better doula

And my husband, my constant support, the one who holds me while I go out and hold others 🤍

Holding humanity is in the quiet moments
The hand squeezes
The tears
The strength
The trust

It is being present, fully and wholeheartedly

This work is not just what I do, it is who I am

It’s the start of Doula Week 🤍

World Doula Week
March 22 to 28, 2026

Holding humanity, doulas at the heart of care ✨

For me, being a doula is so much more than just supporting birth. It’s about holding space, trusting women, standing beside families, and witnessing some of the most powerful moments of their lives.

Almost 12 years in and I am still so deeply in love with what I do. The long hours, the unpredictable days, the missed plans, all so worth it for these sacred moments.

To every mama who has trusted me, thank you.
To every baby I have welcomed, what an honour.

This work is heart work 🤍
