Last year the original founders of Genesis, along with a collaborative of midwives and doctors bought and renovated the much loved Genesis Clinic in Joburg🌀

Following positive engagement with the Department of Health and in line with the timeline given by them, we prepared with a full staff complement to launch in November of 2025 🙌

The Department has sadly spent much of the past three months dealing with public scrutiny around the Tembisa Hospital scandal and so have not proceeded with the inspection and licensing of new facilities.

We are so sorry for all the parents who had hoped to give birth here. We are here and ready to serve as soon as the Department gives us the go ahead. We urge those who can to keep the faith and to raise their voices as we ask those in power to engage once again and complete the process of allowing us to offer the standard of family centered, safe and economic maternity care that Genesis is renowned for 🌀

As we observe Pregnancy Education Week, we want to highlight why learning about the physiological process of birth is so vital. It isn't just about "knowing what comes next", it’s about reclaiming your autonomy.

When we are uneducated about our bodies, fear often takes the driver’s seat. But when we understand the hormones of labor, the rhythm of contractions, and our right to informed consent, fear makes way for confidence.

A birth is not only powerful when it goes exactly to plan.

We deeply trust the birthing body and believe birth is, at its core, a natural and intelligent process, not something to fear or rush.

But that belief doesn’t disappear when the path changes. Sometimes the safest, most loving choice is medical support. Sometimes that looks like intervention. Sometimes it looks like a c-section birth.

That choice DOES NOT take away from your strength or make your birth less meaningful. Power in birth isn’t defined by how your baby arrived, but by being informed, supported, respected, and cared for in the safest possible way. 💙🌿
