Natalie Elias Physiotherapist At Natalie Elias Physiotherapy, we strive to provide patients with evidence-based, quality physiotherapy services.

We are passionate about improving health and wellness using a hands-on and holistic treatment approach. The practice was formerly known as Fran Lewis Physiotherapy Practice. In 2017, Fran relocated to Ireland and the practice was taken over by Natalie Elias Physiotherapy. At Natalie Elias Physiotherapy, we aim to minimise pain and dysfunction, restore normal body functions, prevent recurring injuries and disability, and empower our patients. We treat a variety of conditions, including back and neck pain, other joint and muscle pain (including arthritis), headaches, chronic pain (including fibromyalgia), sports injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation and pain relief, general body conditioning and pilates, respiratory conditions, women’s health conditions, and lymphoedema. Our 45 minute sessions allow enough time for an in-depth and complete assessment, patient discussion of assessment findings, as well as treatment plan, hands-on, individualised treatment and exercise / rehabilitation.

Today is international physiotherapy day and the focus is on mental health and wellness, particularly in light of the COVID pandemic.

Tackling mental health is not just about the mind. There is a complex inter-relationship between our minds and our bodies, and what’s happening in the body affects the mind, and vice versa
This means that our thoughts, feelings, beliefs and attitudes can positively or negatively affect our biological functioning. In other words, our minds can affect how healthy our bodies are! And vice versa, what we do with our physical body can impact our mental state.
There is strong evidence that physical activity has a positive effect on mental health. We also know that breathing techniques are a good way of improving your mental state.
Tomorrow we will be sharing some breathing techniques and on Friday we will be sharing some basic exercises to keep you moving.
Here are some other tips for mental health wellness:

• Get enough sleep and rest. Sleep affects our physical and mental health, but can be the first thing we trade in when we get busy or stressed
• Take time out for things you enjoy. Balance in life is important, so taking time out for things you enjoy can make a difference to how you think and feel
• Nurture relationships and connect with others. Our connection to others is what builds us up and keeps us strong
• Learn to manage stress. Find an activity that works for you whether it be exercise, meditation, writing in a journal, reading, art, to name a few.
• Set realistic goals and deal with tasks one at a time.
• Reach out for help when you need it. Everyone needs support from time to time. Talking to a family member, a friend, or a mental health professional can make all the difference.

Our job as a physiotherapist is to help you reach optimal health, wellbeing and function.
