Alzheimer’s doesn’t just affect memory; it touches every part of a person’s life, and the lives of those who love them. Sadly, a lot of myths still surround the disease, which can lead to misunderstanding and stigma. Let’s change that together.
MYTH 1: “It’s just normal ageing.”
FACT: Alzheimer’s is not a natural part of growing older. It’s a disease that causes complex changes in the brain.
MYTH 2: “Only the elderly get it.”
FACT: While most cases are diagnosed after age 65, younger-onset Alzheimer’s can affect people in their 40s and 50s, often in the prime of their careers and family life.
MYTH 3: “Life is over after diagnosis.”
FACT: With the right support, understanding, and patience, people with Alzheimer’s can still create, laugh, connect, and find joy.
Every time we replace a myth with the truth, we build a kinder, more informed community.
Let's be more informed, for those living with Alzheimer’s and the caregivers walking beside them.
If this touched you, share it. Someone in your circle might need to read it today.
