🤓An evening of learning
Ultrasound vs MRI imaging:
🩻Ultrasound is best for fast, real-time, and safe (no radiation) imaging of soft tissues near the surface, such as tendons, muscles, pregnancy, and abdominal organs.
🩻MRI is preferred for deep, complex, or detailed images of joints, cartilage, the brain, and spinal cords, as it provides better contrast and penetrates bone.
👉When to choose US:
Musculoskeletal (MSK): Tears or inflammation in tendons (Achilles, rotator cuff), muscles, and bursa.
Abdominal/Pelvic: Gallbladder, liver, kidneys, and pelvic organs.
Obstetrics/Pregnancy: Monitoring fetal development.
Real-Time/In-Clinic: Fast, in-office diagnostics or guiding procedures like injections.
Pediatrics: Safe for children, no ionizing radiation.
👉When to choose MRI
Complex Joints: Internal derangement of knees/hips, meniscus tears, or labral tears.
Neurological: Brain tumors, multiple sclerosis, or spinal cord injuries.
Deep Tissue: Deep-seated tumors or detailed soft tissue evaluation.
Bone Issues: Detecting bone marrow edema or occult fractures
