✨ Hello and welcome to Mizáne Pieterse Practice✨

I’m Mizané — a wife, mom, pastoral counsellor, relationship specialist, and someone who believes deeply that healing begins when we give ourselves permission to show up as we truly are.

This page is a space for just that.
For you to catch your breath.
To reflect, reconnect, and realign.
To be reminded that you are worthy of a life filled with meaning, love, and peace.

My heart is to help you show up fully — in life and in love.
To live with intention, to love with purpose, and to walk in the fullness of who you were created to be.

I’m here to walk alongside you as you grow — in your faith, in your relationships, in your calling. Whether you’re navigating the hard conversations, trying to parent with purpose, or learning to love from a deeper place… you’re not alone.

💬 Here, we’ll talk about the real stuff — the sacred and the messy.
🕊️ We’ll make space for truth, grace, and growth.
💛 And we’ll do it gently, together.

So take a deep breath and settle in. You’re so welcome here.

With love,
Mizané 🤍

When Celebrities Divorce: What Does It Say About Us?

When high-profile marriages crumble, it’s easy to get drawn into the drama. But often, their divorces spark a deeper fear in us: If they can’t make it, how can we?

Celebrity relationships, despite their glamour, face the same struggles we do—miscommunication, unmet expectations, and the pressures of life. Their fame amplifies the cracks, but at their core, they remind us how fragile love can feel.

But here’s the truth: lasting love isn’t about fame, wealth, or appearances. It’s about connection, commitment, and a willingness to grow together. When we see a marriage fall apart, it’s an opportunity to reflect on our own:

💬 Are we intentional about nurturing our relationships?
💬 Are we prioritizing communication and grace?
💬 Are we building on a foundation of love that can withstand life’s storms?

Celebrity divorces don’t predict our future—they’re reminders to hold our relationships close and seek the tools to strengthen them. After all, no love story is perfect, but every love story can be purposeful.

✨ What’s one way you’re investing in your relationships this week? Share below! Let’s encourage each other on the journey to lasting love.

💔 Celebrity Divorce: The Ripple Effect on Us All

In the last couple of weeks, we have heard about multiple celebrity couples who are getting divorced. When all these stories make the headlines, everybody starts talking and sharing their thoughts and opinions. But have you ever noticed how these stories impact us on a deeper level?

🌪️ The Cluster Effect: When one high-profile breakup hits the news, it often feels like a wave of similar stories follows. This phenomenon, known as the cluster effect, makes it seem like divorce is “trending,” influencing how we view relationships and even our own.

🪞 The Mirror Effect: Celebrity breakups often mirror our own fears and struggles in relationships. Whether it’s trust issues, work-life balance, or unmet expectations, their stories remind us that no relationship is immune to challenges.

🫶 The Takeaway: While these stories may spark doubts or discussions about love and marriage, they can also inspire reflection and the invitation to nurture and prioritize our relationships.

💬 What are your thoughts on how celebrity divorces shape our view of relationships?

In the next week, we will discuss various thoughts about celebrity divorce and what it means for our relationships. Follow along the journey 🤍

🚫 AFFAIRS 🚫

“I grew up believing there was no hope for a relationship after an affair. Even the Bible mentions that infidelity is the only grounds for divorce. This was my framework, my belief system. I always thought that unfaithfulness was the end of the road.

Then, I entered couples therapy and witnessed countless couples who wanted to rekindle their relationships despite the betrayal. The question remains: *Can we make it?*

The simple answer: YES.

The more in-depth answer: Yes, BUT...

There’s always a ‘but,’ isn’t there?

Repairing a relationship after an affair is possible, but it requires effort, commitment, and a willingness to work through the pain. Here are a few essential steps:

1. HOLD A SPACE FOR YOUR PARTNERS PAIN: Acknowledge the hurt your partner is experiencing and allow your partner to express their feelings without judgment or defensiveness.

2. LET GO OF YOUR NEED FOR RETRIBUTION: Healing requires letting go of the desire to punish your partner. Holding on to anger or seeking revenge will only deepen the wounds.

3. REWRITE THE STORY YOU BELIEVE ABOUT EACH OTHER: Both partners need to work on seeing each other in a new light. Let go of the narrative shaped bt the betrayal and create a story where both partners are committed to growth, healing, and a stronger future.

4. FORGIVENESS: This is a process, not a one-time event. It is a choice, not a feeling. Ultimately, forgiveness of my partner, as well as myself is absolutely vital to the healing process.

4. REBUILD TRUST: Trust isn’t easily regained, but transparency, honesty, and consistent behavior can help restore it over time. Also, choosing to trust despite the reality.

6. COMMUNICATION: Open and honest conversations about needs, boundaries, and fears is absolutely vital to help rebuild the connection.

Remember, healing is possible, but it takes time and effort from both partners. If you’re both committed, your relationship can emerge stronger than before.

You do not have to do this alone. I specialize in helping couples rebuild their relationship after an affair or infidelity. Do not let the hurt and resentment keep you from reconnecting once again.

Let’s talk about REPAIR 🛠️ ❤️

A buzzword when you find yourself in my office! Let me tell you, repair definitely is a secret weapon of couples who has flourishing relationships. I always say: All couples argue; successful couples repair!

What is repair?
John Gottman says: “A repair attempt is any statement or action (verbal, physical or otherwise) meant to diffuse negativity and keep conflict from escalating out of control.”

Simply put: It is something I say or do, to reconnect with my partner after a fight.

Why is this so hard? Because it is a process. Repair takes a lot of hard work within one individual and it is the process of:
1. Calming down
2. Choosing to connect instead of correct
3. Giving yourself permission to reach out and make a bid for connection with your partner.

How can I repair?
Here are some ideas…
- Without words, give your partner a meaningful hug
- Send a thoughtful text, with the goal to connect
- Use humor - it works 90% of the time

Are you struggling to repair in relationship? Maybe, it is time to consider some professional guidance. If you would like to make an appointment, send us a DM.
