PEP and PrEP: HIV Prevention You Should Know About
HIV prevention has come a long way. PEP and PrEP are two powerful tools that protect people at risk of HIV infection. Unfortunately, not everyone knows they exist or how to access them.
💡 What to know:
👉 PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis) is an emergency option — a 28-day treatment you must start within 72 hours after possible exposure to HIV.
👉 PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) is for people who are regularly at higher risk (e.g., have an HIV-positive partner or multiple partners). It’s a once-a-day pill that lowers your chances of infection by over 90%.
Both options are available at clinics like Trident Med after a quick consultation and screening.
They don’t replace condoms — but add an extra layer of safety.
