I was privileged to join a panel at Silvermine Academy talking about anxiety in teens and how to recognise it. The panel shared stories about their own anxiety as teens and a teacher from Sunvalley primary discussed his experiences of teen anxiety in the classroom.

I feel it is necessary to comment after I read an article on affirming therapy for people who are autistic (neurodivergent). And in light of the series on Netflix I thought that this article was apt. The article discussed how the autistic community is in fact a community who should be accepted as such. Therapy that involves teaching autistic people to be "normal" is likened to conversion therapy which was horrific in its day and did little to help or support gay people. The article mentioned how we should not label autistic people as "having autism or ASD". I support this notion and it's a very different way of viewing this community who deserve to be respected and not corrected for what they offer to society. The article is full of psychological terms in the beginning and can be hard to understand but if you are interested, push through to the end as it gets more practical. All credit given to this article and it's author regarding my comments.

With a focus on the autistic experience, our contributors (see below) consider this question and its implications for how professionals and services can adapt.

This is encouraging and good to remember when anxiety hits during stressful times and events.
