Reincarnation: do we survive death?

The belief in reincarnation is wide spread in all indigenous cultures. Across Africa, South America, Asia and to a lesser extent, Europe, North America and Canada, some form of belief in the survival of soul beyond death exists. But we need to move beyond mere beliefs to understand the facts, if any.

The question we need to answer before delving into reincarnation is - do we survive the death of our body? If by any chance you answered in the affirmative, then, surely we existed before birth. Then surely we are more than the body. Then surely, we, consciousness, are habitats of a different dimension where birth and death hold no sway.

The implications of a yes answer, though not having any bearing on the fact, is enormous. Imagine, for a moment, what will happen to religious and political institutions if we all knew who we were in the past, where we came from, where we will go after death and what we came here to do.

What about family units and our social connections. Imagine the possibility of just Googling it, to find out where Hi**er and Leopold are today, fish them out for general punishment. We can even track Judas and thrash him for betraying Jesus. Imagine getting Luggard to explain his vision when he created Nigeria. Interesting prospects!

I suspect that the lack of scientific process in the discuss of reincarnation and the seismic shift it's adoption will cause in our way of life, are the main reasons why it is considered fluff by the educated public.

So, do we survive the death of our body? Assuming we do, can we prove it beyond a reasonable doubt?

Something interesting that can provide a clue has been happening: Near Death Experiences, NDE. NDE occurs when someone is rescued from the jaws of death. The experience sometimes leaves memories of the other side in some people. Many serious minded scientists dismiss it as our brains way of filling gaps in memory and not a proof of life after death.

Then, once in a while, an antagonist of life after death experiences an NDE.

Take Eben Alexander, MD, a neurosurgeon in USA. He fell into an unexplained coma. Brian activity could barely be detected. As the family were deciding to switch off the life support machine, he woke up. He narrated his experience in a beautiful book titled, "Proof of Heaven: A Neurosurgeon's Journey into the Afterlife". His book is noteworthy because it's an experience of someone at the pinnacle of neuroscience.

Remember Raymond Moody who, many years ago, wrote "Life After Death: The Investigation of a Phenomenon - Survival of Bodily Death", and "Life After Death: The Evidence", by Dinesh D'Souza. Those on the doubting lane are always allowed to go beyond the speed limit. But if you are burdened by the phenomena of birth and death, you owe it to yourself to investigate Near Death Experiences NDE, reincarnation, and recently Life Between Life LBL reports.

So, do we survive the death of our body?

To find the answer, you must not follow the masses. You are not bound to any congregation or any organization. You came into this world alone and thus shall you leave. The greatest gift you have is the gift of choice. Choose your own path! Investigate! Become curious! Ask questions!
