High Potassium foods to avoid

What is Potassium

This comes from the food you eat. Your body uses the potassium it needs and your kidneys remove the extra potassium from your blood. When you have kidney disease, your kidneys cannot remove the extra potassium in the right way, and too much potassium can stay in your blood.
When you have too much potassium in your blood, it can lead to hyperkalemia which can cause a heart attack or death!

What is GFR ?

Glomerular filtration rate (GFR) is a test used to check how well the kidneys are working. It estimates how much blood passes through the glomeruli each minute. Glomeruli are the tiny filters in the kidneys that filter waste from the blood
A GFR of 60 or higher is in the normal range. A GFR below 60 may mean kidney disease. A GFR of 15 or lower may mean kidney failure.
