Sometimes the sound is so feint you can barely hear the call.

Sometimes you are so numb you can barely feel at all.

Sometimes you hear it, but you dont pick up.

Sometimes you feel it but its just not enough.

I have found, often its the simple pleasures that bring you back online.

Sipping in those fresh flower smells.

Feeling your bare feet on the earth.

The sun on your skin.

And sometimes it takes visiting

A place outside 4 walls,

A place beyond the technology that enslaves your senses daily,

A place where your attention is fully captured by the beauty before you,

A place and a moment so wonderful,
you are filled with gratitude and are overcome by the deepest breath you have ever taken.

Something like this calls to you each day..

Sometimes in a whisper, sometimes its so loud it hurts.

CHANGE

The beauty of an open landscape and a wilderness that yearns to be explored.

Imagine.. if this environment you are exploring, these discoveries you are making, was the map to the inside of your very own being.

The caves, rivers, views,
The creatures, critters, flowers,
The cloud formations and weather patterns..

If these things could speak
What would they say to you in this moment?

Each interaction, each moment, each breath,
Speaks, reflects back to you something.

Each moment holds medicine,

Each discovery, growing a knowing inside of you.

Each breath in
Carries our intention, our question
Each breath out
Carries our trust in an answer to come
Each Pause between breaths
Carries the space we give to listen, to absorb.

Then the realisation hits you!

THIS IS LIFE !!!

And for a moment a thought arises..

What If...

I am these mountains
I am these rivers
I am these clouds

What If..

These people walking beside me,

I have chosen.

What if..

They are also part of me

Aspects seeking to be acknowledged, waters waiting to be stilled, so they can reflect back what is yet to be seen and done.

There is so much to see, but equally so much unseen existing within the same space.

The unseen, out of sight, must surely be felt, or heard?

I cant say I know anything for sure, but what I have learnt is;

To feel, I must learn to become quite, to listen,
I must create space, to change, I must lean into discomfort and apply effort.

Know the seasons, know what season you are in, tells you what medicine you need.

Slow down, speed up, less effort, more effort, learn to give, learn to receive, set boundaries, let your walls down, consume more, create more, more structure, less structure, more play, more work, get attention, pay attention.

One never has balance, one can only ever work towards balance.

Nature, Great Teacher,
holds the answers to all.

Today is a good day to move our body's, free our minds and take a few moments to acknowledge Spirit.

To acknowledge the essence of who we are, to remember where we come from and to where we will return when our time here is up.

Join us for practice this evening (all bodies and levels welcome) as we move into stillness and return to ourselves.

So what does that even mean?
"to return to yourself" You may ask?

A good place to start is to ask ourselves:

Am I staying true to who I am?

Am I listening to what I am feeling?

Am I moving more towards myself or further away?

Is there a feeling of connectedness, the warmth of peace, grace, faith or..

Is the feeling one of disconnection and the coldness of separation, lack of hope?

Then maybe ask yourself:

What makes me feel connected?

What takes me away from that connection?

What is needed?

"We do not need to learn every fact and idea to have knowledge. We must refine the instrument of knowing. The mind and consciousness. So that what ever we learn will be used with effectiveness, wisdom and appropriateness. "

Though important, It is easy to mistaken content knowledge as more important than the task of refining the mind itself.

"This appreciation of refinement disposes the yogi to pay as much attention to the process and quality of the thought and emotion as to the content of those thoughts."

This refinement gives us the ability to discern between what is real and what illusory. It gives us the ability to see without eyes, hear without ears and know without the mind.

There is an age old adage that puts it well. "You can pile scriptures sky high on the back of a donkey, and it's still just an ass"

To understand, act on and embody knowledge learned takes refinement of the mind through following the map of the process of awakening "Eight Limbs Of Yoga" as systematised by Pantanjali in his Yoga Sutras. There is more to Yoga then the learned knowledge and Asana.

If there is one take away I could offer you from this it is:

- find a good teacher.

•Someone who transmits these teachings not just through word and action, rather through their state of being.

•Someone who guides you into deeper awareness, a deeper sense of self.

•Someone who doesn't give you all the answers but gets you to question what is real and what is illusory and ultimately gives you the experience of clarity.

NEW YOGA CLASS KLOOF

FROM MOVEMENT TO STILLNESS

I am excited to be starting a new class in kloof this coming Thursday at an amazing studio.

I have been practicing and teaching just over 10 years now.
To this day I am still discovering new things and deepening my understanding of the mind body connection and how our internal processes and mechanisms function in relation to the world around us.

These classes are an infusion of traditional Yoga practices, principles and teachings combined with Modern Sciences deepened understanding of anatomy, neuroscience and the application of Joint specific Strength training principles through the lens of my own experience and self discovery.

These classes should help provide the tools and understanding necessary to find freedom in our body, as well as help us Re-cognise (to know again) why we are here and why we are met with certain life challenges.

Come through, Let Go And Find your Flow.
