What a fun day supporting the trail runners at the this past weekend. The 42km took the runners through 7 conservancies! We were stationed at the 32km mark at Watsonia Place, making sure the runners got refueled after an insane climb out of the gorge. These guys have some serious grit!Well done to for organizing such an epic event💪🏻

October is Breast Cancer awareness month!

Today a patient reminded me of the importance of doing your self-breast exam in front of your mirror in good light.

Set yourself a monthly reminder to do your self-breast exam. (The best time to do a monthly self-breast exam is about 3 to 5 days after your period starts. Your breasts are not as tender or lumpy at this time in your monthly cycle.) Do it at the same time every month. You will quickly learn what is normal for you and be able to spot an abnormality faster!

Step 1: Examine your Breasts in a mirror with hands on hips

Here’s what you should look out for: Dimpling, puckering, or bulging of the skin. A ni**le that has changed position or an inverted ni**le. Redness, soreness, rash, or swelling.

Step 2: Raise Arms and Examine Your Breasts and look for changes.

Step 3: Look for signs of breast fluid coming out the ni**le (other than breast milk)

Step 4: Feel for Breast Lumps while lying down.

Step 5: Feel your Breasts for lumps while standing or sitting

This years theme is all about getting your Spine moving!

We spend most of our day sitting and looking down at a screen. Lets make sure we add some movement to our spine by prioritizing movement!

Why it Movement good for the spine?
1. Movement increases blood circulation to spinal structures, delivering vital nutrients and oxygen.
2. Movement builds strength in your core muscles that support the spine, protecting your spinal cord and reducing strain.

We are lucky enough to have an amazing Pilates studio on our road . I had a lovely catch up with Maggie Ferreira, owner and Instructor at the Pilates Studio today! Do yourself a favour and go book a session with them. The studio is so calming and exceptionally well equipped!
