⏺Recordable Communication Devices

Recordable Devices are designed to meet the needs of people who will benefit from using a speech generating device. They can be recorded in any language!🗣

So which one is right for your class or therapy AAC kit❓

⏺A single message device plays one message at a time. It may still hold multiple messages for use at different times. A greeting, song, prayer, joke, request, questions or answers are some example uses.
⏺Sequencing devices play a series of messages in sequence. This might structure a conversation, lines in a play, turn taking activities, or telling a story.
⏺Multi-message devices can record different numbers of messages. They offer more words, but not sufficient to represent a 'robust AAC tool' and are instead ideal for Core Vocabulary used across activities or specific games / events.

June is Aphasia Awareness Month!🧠

How do you help a person with Aphasia?

Assistive Technology has designed the Aphasia Duo Grid set: a set of two symbol vocabularies, designed specifically with people with aphasia in mind. The aim is to enable users to communicate for a wide range of reasons and provide a range of accompanying communication supports. These vocabularies are designed to be used with a communication partner, though some individuals may be able to use them independently.

Both vocabularies contain topic words, activity/topic relevant phrases, and supports to help with word-finding difficulties and daily routines. There is also vocabulary to talk about important topics like mental health, goal setting and discharge planning.

This webinar is hosted by the creators of Aphasia Duo and will give you an in-depth look at the grid sets.
