Because movement of your body helps to:

🔸️Release endorphins and relieve stress
🔹️Decrease positional pains (prolonged positions)
🔸️Combat muscle weakening
🔹️Improve joint mobility and tissue tensile strenght
🔸️Improve sleeping
🔹️improve circulation in your body
🔸️Improve gut health
🔹️Reduce blood pressure and cholesterol

Movement can be anything from running to yoga to mowing the lawn to simple desk stretches ... ANY movement counts.👊

How to move more?

⏰️ Set an alarm on ypur phone every 30 min to stretch or to get up and walk.
🔴 Put a sticker on your computer screen / desk as a visual reminder to move.
💧Drink water while sitting down - you will need to run for the loo soon. 🏃‍♀️

Remember: *Motion is Lotion* and *Rest is Rust*

It's that time of the year again:

The time when you can almost smell the fruitcakes, suncreen, laughter, and relaxation....

BUT

You still have a few weeks of bills to pay, a 6-7am alarm blaring in your ears, dropping the kids at school, rushing to woolies/spar for a last-minute meal prep before the 1pm trafic in Kokstad, and pushing for that last gym session for that summer BOD.

Everyone knows that stretching should be part of your exercise routine....
BUT
Not everyone knows WHEN to stretch and WHAT type of stretching techniques to use:

WHAT is Dynamic and static stretching? 🤷

▪️As part of your daily routine --- best time is after a hot shower/ bath when your muscles are moist and relaxed
▪️During long periods of static sitting (desk work)

Pilates is a form of low-impact exercise that aims to strengthen muscles while improving postural alignment and flexibility.

Pilates moves tend to target your core - the center of the body from which all movement stems - , although the exercises work other areas of your body as well.

You can do Pilates with or without equipment, but no matter what you can expect the moves to involve slow, precise movements and breath control.
