with SidebySide Morning sickness is a feeling of nausea, sometimes accompanied by vomiting, that many women have during pregnancy – usually in the first trimester. It goes away for most women by around 14 to 20 weeks of pregnancy. Of course, some lucky moms-to-be never experience nausea or vomiting at all.
These easy-to-follow tips may help reduce nausea and vomiting symptoms:
1. Get up slowly: In the morning, sit on the bed for a few minutes, rather than jumping right up.
2.Take a walk: Get some fresh air by taking a walk or opening a window.
3. Get plenty of rest: Relax and take naps whenever you can: Stress and fatigue can make morning sickness worse.
4. Distract yourself: Watching a TV show or enjoying a hobby can relieve stress and take your mind off your discomfort.
5. Avoid triggers: Be aware of situations and smells that can trigger your nausea. These include a warm or stuffy room, the smell of heavy perfume, a car ride, or even certain visual stimuli, like flickering lights. Even changing positions too quickly might set off nausea.
6. Take your vitamins at night: Taking your prenatal vitamins with food right before you go to sleep may reduce nausea.
7. Talk to a friend: Morning sickness can take the fun out of pregnancy. It might help to share how you're feeling with a close friend or family member who can offer sympathy and support.
