"How to Change Your Anxiety
Learn to turn your anxiety into excitement.

When you’re experiencing anxiety, it may seem as though you’re stumped on your options and will just need to ride the wave until it’s over, but this is far from true. Would you believe me if I told you that you could turn your anxiety into excitement? Probably not, so I’ll tell you why it’s possible and just how effective it can be.

Your body experiences the same symptoms when you’re anxious as you do when you’re excited. The fast heart beat, the sweaty palms, the cortisol running through your body, and the only difference is the thought and feeling attached to it. What you’re thinking at that moment is the indicator of whether you’re anxious or excited.

If you research “anxiety reappraisal”, you’ll find that I didn’t make this up and that it’s had a tremendous effect on dealing with anxiety. Here’s how you do it:

Next time you find yourself in a situation where you’re feeling anxious, take a deep breath, become self-aware and start saying, “I’m excited”. Say it over and over again, and while you’re saying it, find something that you can actually become excited about. The game of tennis with your friend later, the cake at Jenny’s birthday party tonight, whatever it is, think about it and tell yourself how excited you’re getting 100 times over.

When you’re looking at yourself in a mirror, you’re not just looking at YOU. You’re looking at 70 trillion cells that are actively working together as a community and are all mastered by a single thought. This technique has proven time and time again that not only is it possible to turn anxiety into excitement, but is able to boost confidence levels as well.

You get to decide whether you’re going to be anxious or excited. You have all the necessary tools to reframe the situation.
