MEC for Health and Wellness, Nomantu Nkomo Ralehoko, is leading the provincial observation of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) at Khutsong today, as part of Gauteng’s efforts to raise awareness about these conditions.

NTDs are a diverse group of communicable diseases that disproportionately affect the world’s poorest and most marginalised communities. These include illnesses such as dengue fever, schistosomiasis, rabies and leprosy, among others.

This initiative forms part of the Gauteng Department of Health’s intensified campaign to strengthen health education and awareness on the prevention and control of NTDs, with a particular focus on townships, informal settlements and hostel communities, where vulnerability is often higher.
