Tis the Season……to be Merry…
But with extreme heat, traveling, festivities, visiting family and friends, poor access to clean water sometimes, and so on….it is also the season of upset little tummies…..gastroenteritis, diarrhoea….🧻🦠🚽🤒🤢😥

✅When there is no access to packaged “rehydration salts” this (Motsoako/Motswako) will save a life by helping to keep the sick person hydrated until they can be brought to professional attention, if need be…
❎ Plain water on its own is not good enough to rehydrate a dehydrated person.
❎ Sugary drinks have the potential to worsen diarrhoea, so rather avoid..
❎ Black tea, flat Coke etc are not recommended.
❎ Energy and Sports drink do not have the right electrolyte balance for dehydration caused by diarrhoeal disease. They are best avoided.

🤯I am told this preparation also works better than “having another drink” when adults “suffer” the day after, from having overindulged with drinks🍻🥃🍷the night before..🤩

Can infants (0 - 12 months) be given water??

🐥For babies under 6 months NO water (zero, nada, nil) may be given. Babies get their water from breastfeeding and receiving enough formula daily.
🐥When solids are introduced at 6 months, some water may offered at mealtimes, in small sips only. We are talking a few teaspoons/spoons and not cupfuls or bottles. The baby will still rely on milk for his/her fluid intake.

Time to be with other kids my own age..😁 It’s important for a doctor to attend conferences regularly to refresh old skills and knowledge, but most importantly to interact with colleagues and experts in the field to learn new skills and acquire new knowledge. Medicine is a forever evolving field; as we search for newer and better ways of ensuring the best health for our patients….It’s critical to stay abreast of these developments..
