MEC for Health and Wellness, , is accompanied by members of the chaplaincy as she visits patients receiving medical care at following the tragic shooting in Bekkersdal in the early hours of Sunday, 21 December. Gunmen open fire at the KwaNoxolo Tavern and into nearby streets.

Leratong Hospital is currently treating eight injured patients, including two who are wounded in a similar incident at another tavern. Two of the patients will be discharged today.

MEC visited patients injured in the Bekkersdal shooting to offer them support. While, Chaplains prayed for the patients and their families, offering comfort and spiritual support. The affected patients will also be offered counselling.

Today we came together to reflect and renew our commitment to a stronger, more resilient response to HIV/AIDS.
In attendance was our Employee Wellness Director from Central Office, Mam Palesa , our Nursing Manager, Mam Ngwenya, Dr. Moundzika and Mam Shoai-Acting Quality Assurance Manager who shared a moving candlelight ceremony, symbolizing hope, commemoration, and solidarity.
