You have played and immense role in our lives - from baby-sitting my kids to becoming my receptionist and one of my best and loyal friends.

You are special to all of us and is part of the close-knitted Allie-Reid family and practice.

Dear Patients, Friends and Colleagues,

2023 was an extremely tough year on a personal note but as sr Sagree's book says "The show must go on".

Thank you to you all for supporting us despite many challenges and for entrusting your (and your family's) precious life in our care this year. It was a huge privilege and honour to be of assistance during your (and your family's) illness.

To my wife, Fatima, my team, Hanli, Amelia and sr Jenny - I don't know what I would do without your support. I really appreciate your hard work, dedication, sacrifice and for always doing your best to provide the best service we as a practice can give.

Today we celebrate the end of 2023 at the nr 1 restaurant in Cape Town, Tangram, Durbanville Hills. Amazing food, great wine and a surreal atmosphere! Do yourself a favour, and go there for a meal.

Wishing all of you a massive merry Christmas and a prosperous 2024.

Please note that our rooms will be closed untill 8 January 2024 afterwhich the ladies will be back on their posts.

Princess Diana shook hands with an AIDS patient without gloves in 1991. This was groundbreaking at the time because many people didn't fully understand how HIV was spread.

Consequently, those with the disease often had to spend time alone in AIDS wards.

Diana visited several of these wards to meet the patients. She expressed her feelings towards the patients: "I had always wanted to hug people in hospital beds."

She recounted a particular incident to Morton, saying, "This particular man who was so ill started crying when I sat on his bed, and he held my hand. I thought, 'Diana, do it, just do it,' and I gave him an enormous hug. It was so touching because he clung to me and cried."
