Children have rights! Exposure to domestic violence causes lifelong trauma, hindering psychological development and social integration. Often these children suffer physical, s*xual and emotional abuse, creating a vicious cycle. The Children's Bill of Rights protects them in theory, but it's our responsibility to shield and heal as many children as we can.

Today, we stand in solidarity with survivors of GBV and reaffirm our commitment to creating a community free from violence. At ACVV Kuruman, we believe that every individual deserves to live with dignity and respect. Let's continue to speak out against GBV and support those affected by it. Together, we can make a difference.

Event on Friday 21st November 2025

GBVF (Gender‑Based Violence & Femicide) is violence directed at a person because of their gender, often rooted in unequal power. It includes:

Physical abuse – hitting, slapping, strangulation
Sexual abuse – r**e, forced s*x, unwanted touching
Emotional/psychological abuse – threats, humiliation, controlling behaviour
Economic abuse – withholding money, preventing work or education
Digital violence – online harassment, non‑consensual sharing of intimate images, cyber‑stalking

Reporting stops the cycle, protects victims, and holds perpetrators accountable. In South Africa you can:

Call the National Domestic Violence Helpline 0800 150 150 or the Police 10111
Visit your nearest police station or court to apply for a protection order
Contact ACVV Kuruman (phone 053 712 1862 / email kuruman@acvv.org.za) for support and referral

Join ACVV Kuruman’s 16 Days of Activism launch (25 Nov – 10 Dec) as we stand together against GBVF. Let’s break the silence, protect our mothers, sisters, and daughters, and demand a safer community for all.
