Ithemba is very excited: Have a look at some of the awesome sock selfies that people from around the world shared last year to start the conversation around mental health in health professionals.

The stigma surrounding mental illness in health care workers persists. Wearing brightly coloured socks may seem like a weird place to begin, but to care for others, we have to first care for ourselves and each other!

- Overzealous teeth brushing
- Use of abrasive toothpaste
- An acidic diet
- Acid reflux disease
- Bulimia (Bulimia can increase acid reflux)
- Excessive teeth whitening
- Teeth grinding
- Dry mouth (Dry mouth causes you to chew gum and sweets that can increase acidity)

This is Maretha. She is our amazing receptionist! Here are some things from her point of view:

1. What tips would you give for handling difficult customers?
"I would say the best way to handle a difficult customer is to stay as calm as you can and to just remember to place yourself in their shoes. Always be friendly. You might be the only person to make them feel better today. "

2. Tell us a story that you will never forget about your job as a receptionist.
"Everyday is a day to remember at HDC! A few words I won't forget:
" Mammie my goud! Wat nou van my goud mammie?!"
"Where is the phone?"
"Kan julle kinders uitsit?"
"Should I phone like with a telephone?"

3. What tips/advice would you want to give customers, regarding HDC?
"Please be on time. Its very hard to explain this but there are so many patients that I want to help but time is always a problem, so just be punctual!"
