Today our Child and Youth Care Worker sat down with our teen girls for an open and enlightening "girls talk", focused specifically on what to do during "that time of the month"

They collectively shared their experiences and hygiene tips and also how to break stigma around periods.

Such conversations and even tougher conversations need to be held with our teen girls.

Luckily for us we have bags of sanitary pads donated by The North Coast Courier Orphan Fund & Enterprise iLembe (and body hygiene products) and will be distributed to our girls 💙

For the past two weeks we've had scores of Grade 10 learners visiting our centre to offer their time and energy volunteering, doing this as part of their Life Orientation task.

From lending a hand in our daily operations and to connecting with our beneficiaries, we hope this experience opened their eyes to the power of giving and sense of community.

Not only did their volunteering work fulfil their Life Orientation requirements, but it also planted a seed of social responsibility (we are all capable to help with the little that we have).
