This week we had the pleasure of dialysing our holiday patient from Vereeniging. On her last day of treatment with us she spoilt me with some flowers and chocs and said to me, β€œEverytime you look at the flowers you must remember how wonderful you are.” What a wonderful person she is with so much of hope, love, faith and happiness. Spending those few moments with her has made me realise that no disease, no race difference, no language barrier and no distance can prevent a relationship you form with someone. Thank you Karin Grouse for being so amazing and for sharing those laughs with me and for also letting see what a day in the life of a person diagnosed with chronic kidney failure really is... looking forward to having you at our unit again soon. Lots of love, Renisha β€οΈπŸ’›πŸ’šπŸ’™πŸ’œ

Did you know that a human has an average amount of 5 liters of blood circulating throughout our body... So if you take the 200 liters that your kidneys filter per day and divide it by the 5 liters we have within our blood circulatory system, it means that all the blood in our body has recirculated and filtered through our kidneys 40 times per day!
And did you know from the 200 liters that is filtered through the kidney daily, a total amount of only 2 liters of urine is produced which means the kidneys excrete only 1% of the water and salts from our blood....
WOW!... Isn't your Kidneys amazing!?! 😯😍😍

Your kidneys are really important organs... Taking care of them means you are taking care of your blood pressure, your acid-base balance, your heart, your blood, your bones, the excretion of your waste and the extra water that you drink on a daily basis. So your kidneys are not just there to help you urinate. They are there to perform 7 very important functions during every second of our lives. Most of us do not realize this and so we take our kidneys for granted.
Let us be proactive... learn more about your kidneys and educate yourself on the importance of taking care of them!
Let's fight Kidney Disease together and prevent Kidney Disease from becoming epidemic πŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’š

Your kidneys are one of the most delicate organs in the human body. They are hard workers but are also very sensitive. So what do your kidneys do exactly... A lot of us just think they help to remove excess fluid from our bodies and filter out toxins from our blood. Those are just 2 functions... Remember your kidneys are working 24/7 so be kind to them!
Let's see how clued up you are about your kidneys and what they do for you?... Comment and let us know what you think your kidneys are actually doing for you 24/7???

Adhering to attending your Dialysis sessions and prescription is really important. Why would this be so??? This is because a person with normal kidney function has their kidneys working 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Whereas a person with Chronic Kidney Failure only has their treatments 3 times a week over a duration of 4 hours... So this means that their artificial kidney (dialyser) during their hemodialysis treatment functions for a total of 12 hours for an entire week. Did you know...
