Think of biostimulators as a structural boost for your face.

Biostimulators don’t ‘fills’ the skin like traditional fillers. Instead the ‘Wake up your skin’, to encourage it to do what it used to do when you were younger. Forgive me if I start sounding a ‘Wee bit Irish ☘️’*

I decided to further my studies and do the Diploma in Dermatology as I have noticed an increased need amongst my aesthetic patients for dermatological based consults. Unfortunately we are facing a grave shortage of dermatologists and this leaves cases unseen and untreated for long periods of time.

Whilst this will give me the confidence to see more complex skin conditions and to be able to manage them appropriately, I will still refer those cases that are best treated by the specialist dermatologists.

Fortunately the structure of the course allows me to continue seeing all my aesthetic patients as usual, but enables me to better myself so I can serve you all on a more holistic spectrum and provide a fuller service

My course is 9 months, and I am excited to expand this part of my practice over the next year or so.

*Unfortunately South Africa doesn’t offer any diplomas in dermatology, so after extensive research I decided to go with the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland option as it is internationally recognised and is top rated

Eyes don’t lie

This must be one of the most common areas requested, at yet the most difficult to treat. Why?
1. Thinnest skin on the body
2. Poor circulation
3. No sebaceous glands

So what can we do? This patient was fortunate. She had 18 units of toxin and had a great result.

But what can we do for those where toxin isn’t enough?
We have to consider all the factors mentioned above and address these. Ie skin quality with mesotherapy or microneedling. Sometimes a person needs. Volume replacement with hyaluronic acid (filler). And lastly, never underestimate the effectiveness of home care. A retinol containing product goes a long way to stimulating collagen and elastin and targeting fine lines.

Is it possible to achieve a refreshed look without changing the way we look?

Absolutely. The above patient had a combination of treatments, but at different times. The top photo is the before treatment photo, the middle photo is after 1 session of Harmonyca (hybrid filler ie hyaluronic acid and calcium hydroxyapatite), which is injected in the C technique using a cannula. The bottom photo is the results after the final session of our treatment program with Juvederm Skinvive (again a biostimulator and filler), which is injected superficially into the skin.

All in all, a naturally lifted and tighter look, with the use of 2 different tools. No need for filters or photoshopping.
