How does sleep apnea affect diabetes?

There's a symbiotic relationship that has been observed between and type 2 diabetes. One seems to worsen the other, when left unaddressed. Sleep apnea deprives the body of oxygen, which has a direct negative effect on glucose levels and insulin resistance. Its effect can be dramatic, promoting insulin resistance and changing glucose metabolism to the extent that OSA is associated with the development of type 2 diabetes.*

A report by the Research Society for the Study of Diabetes in India (RSSDI) found that both the presence and severity of untreated OSA is independently associated with poor glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Therefore, implementation of screening, diagnosis, and treatment of OSA in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) at initial stages could potentially alleviate the risk of cardiovascular disease and substantially improve their quality of life.**

What are the clinical benefits associated with starting nasal high flow ( ) early in the general care areas for infants and children?

In a large multicenter randomized controlled trial conducted by Franklin et al. (2018) (the PARIS trial), the use of Optiflow™ Junior to deliver NHF therapy to infants with bronchiolitis early in their hospital admission significantly reduced escalation of care due to treatment failure when compared with standard oxygen therapy.

Studies show that 40% of adults snore regularly, and almost all people who snore say that it bothers their family or partner.

So what causes snoring?
1. People with enlarged tonsils or an enlarged tongue are more likely to snore.
2. People with extra weight around the neck are more likely to snore.
3. The shape of one’s nose or jaw can also cause snoring.

Snoring may be a sign of sleep apnea. If you're concerned, visit your doctor and learn more here: https://bit.ly/3NvdL7A

The findings were not conclusive enough to allow researchers to say that sleep apnea causes cognitive decline or stroke, but are sound enough to point scientists toward further exploration.
