Collaboration between Diocese of Dundee Catholic Church, Ermelo Phoenix Rotary Club, CMR & Department of Social Development, Damesfontein is a Home and Care Centre for children with mental and/or physical disabilities. Damesfontein Child & Youth Care Centre (CYCC) vision started many years again when Maria Gallio had this dream where she could see Damesfontein coming alive again. Maria approached
Bishop Graham Rose (Bishop for the Diocese of Dundee) explaining and describing the vision to him, and he became enthusiastic himself about the prospect of creating a CENTRE FOR CHILDREN WITH DISABILITY, and he gladly gave Maria permission to make use of the mission site and begin some serious investigation to bring this vision into reality. Maria together with the other members of the Committee and faithful supporters have been working towards bringing this proposed Project into reality - and September 2022 is the time. Damesfontein CYCC will welcome 6 children/youth with mental and/or physical disabilities from 6 year to 12years. And as time time goes on and we (staff & children) have settled we plan to grow and welcome more children. The entire infrastructure has been upgraded, and a huge amount has been achieved preparing the buildings and the site ready for the centre to come to fruition. The site of which the Centre is located was a Consolata Mission for many years. In fact the Consolata Missionaries from Torrino in Italy built the Mission Centre and in 2012 they donated everything to the Diocese of Dundee which has Bishop Graham Rose as its Bishop. To support the local township and community surrounding Damesfontein CYCC vegetables gardens have been established by the community to support both the centre and the community. Children whom are reside at Damesfontein CYCC are assessed and placed in the care of the Centre by the Department of Social Development. The project is registered for 50 children by the Department of Social Development, however until the project gains momentum and everyone finds their feet only 6 children will be placed. Damesfontein CYCC do receive subsidy from the Department of Social Development. However, along with Ermelo Phoenix Rotary Club we need partners who can help us care and support this vulnerable children and their futures. We provide comprehensive care to our children - we have a doctors room available on site for visiting practitioners (and our manager is a nurse)
The following residential programs are provided depending on the specific childs mobility :
- Social/Emotional

- Spiritual
- Safety and security
- Recreational and sport
Damesfontein CYCC has a full time Manager, 3 Sisters from various professional backgrounds 2 Carers, visiting Social worker & doctor. The committee and most importantly the children of Damesfontein CYCC would love you to become involved in our project and the longevity of it. You can support in many way, wether it be physically as a volunteer, financially or simply by donated specific goods needs. Anything is appreciated. We have big plans for the future - we would still love to finalised a Rehabilitation Centre with physiotherapy, hydro therapy, a Gym providing whatever is needed for rehabilitation.
