Friends Day Centre Friends Day Centre is a Special Care Centre for learners with severe to profound disabilities

From as young as 2 years of age, our learners come from different communities and have various and / or multiple disabilities including, Cerebral Palsy and Spina Bifida to mention but a few.

A huge congratulations to Preston and mom Domenique as Preston took on his 4th Two Oceans Marathon 21km, an incredible achievement and a truly inspiring milestone!

Congratulations as well to all the Warrior On Wheels Foundation participants who took part in this inspiring event. Your determination, perseverance, and team spirit continue to motivate and uplift so many.

Thank you to the families, friends, and supporters who brought the energy and cheers along the route, making the day even more memorable.

We hope all our learners and families had a restful and enjoyable holiday. As we begin Term 2, we look forward to another exciting term filled with learning, growth, fun, and new achievements.

May this term be filled with curiosity, confidence, and many wonderful moments as our learners continue to develop their skills and reach their full potential. Together, we will create a supportive environment where every child feels encouraged, valued, and inspired.

Friends Day Centre is officially closed for the school holidays.

Holiday Care is available for FDC learners on the following dates:

• Monday, 30 March – Thursday, 2 April
• Tuesday, 7 April

Please note there will be no Holiday Care on:

• Friday, 3 April (Good Friday)
• Monday, 6 April (Easter Monday)

The Centre will reopen on Wednesday, 8 April.

Our Story

Friends Day Centre (FDC) is a Non-Profit Organisation which began humbly in 1959 as a care and learning facility for children with special needs. From these humble beginnings, FDC has grown consistently over the years and now caters for as many as 120 learners with severe and profound physical and / or mental disabilities in the age group ranging between and 47 years.

The learning and therapy capabilities of FDC have evolved over time and are supported by a physiotherapy room, a sensory garden, a whirlpool bath and a sensory room.

The Centre has a staff compliment of 40 dedicated therapists, carers and assistants utilising 10 classrooms to provide appropriate education, personal skills development and various therapies to meet the specific needs of our learners.
