DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH WELCOMES ARREST OF NURSE ALLEGED TO HAVE STOLEN MEDICATION AND OTHER MEDICAL SUPPLY DR. HUGO CLINIC
The Department of Health in Limpopo welcomes the swift action taken by security personnel at Dr. Hugo Clinic in the Mopani District, which led to the arrest of a professional nurse found in possession of a boot almost full of alleged stolen medical supplies last night.
The department acknowledges and appreciates the vigilance of the clinic’s security team, whose quick response to the discovery of the medication in the nurse’s vehicle resulted in the arrest. This incident is deeply concerning, but it also shows the department’s unwavering commitment to protecting public health and ensuring that the medications entrusted to healthcare facilities are used solely for patient care.
The MEC for Health, Dieketseng Mashego, has expressed grave concern regarding healthcare workers exploiting their trusted positions to pilfer medications. “This behavior undermines the integrity of the department and the public’s trust in its services,” said MEC Mashego.
The MEC has also emphasized that the department will remain resolute in its mission to uphold transparency, integrity, and accountability in every aspect of its service delivery.
End.
